Creating characters that bring events tolife.
With a background in performance making and a lifelong fascination with character, Julie Simpson creates immersive theatrical experiences that encourage audiences to laugh, connect and rediscover their sense of play.
Every RinTinTin Theatre character begins with a question:
Who are they?
Before a costume is made or a performance takes shape, Julie develops the personality, story and world behind each character.
The result is work that feels authentic, playful and full of life — characters that don’t simply appear at events, but genuinely belong there.
Bespoke Experiences.
Some clients arrive with a detailed brief.
Others arrive with a feeling they want to create.
Both are equally exciting.
We work closely with clients to develop performances that complement their event, audience and environment. From adapting existing acts to creating entirely new concepts, every project is approached with imagination, flexibility and care.
Our Process
Great characters are not bought.
They are discovered.
Behind every RinTinTin Theatre performance is a creative journey of sketches, conversations, colour palettes, costume experiments, storytelling and collaboration.
Step 1 – The Spark
Every project begins with an idea.
Sometimes it comes from a client brief.
Sometimes from a theme, a location or a visual reference.
We explore possibilities together and identify what kind of experience we want audiences to have.
Step 2 – Building the Charater
This is where the performance truly begins.
We ask:
Who are they?
What is their story?
How do they move?
How do they interact with people?
These details give every character depth and authenticity.
Step 3 – Visual Development
Julie develops concepts through sketches, colour studies, paper cut-outs and maquettes.
Ideas evolve through experimentation and play, allowing costumes and characters to emerge organically before production begins.
Step 4 – Making
Working alongside talented makers, costume specialists and performers, concepts are transformed into reality.
Materials, textures, movement and practicality are all considered to ensure every character is as effective as they are beautiful.
Step 5 – The Performance
The final stage is where everything comes together.
Once a character enters the space, the audience completes the story.
Every interaction is unique.
Every audience is different.
Every event creates new possibilities.
We create performances with depth, detail and a touch of mischief.
Characters people remember.
Stories people join.
Moments people talk about long after the event has ended.

"Julie was truly fabulous, we really enjoyed it and she made the event as fun as we imagined it to be. I think that element would have been lost without her”

“Just wanted to say a very big 'Go raibh maith agat’ to Bridie. You enhanced our event and made our day - it was hilarious and everyone, from general public to punters thought you were a total header and super funny".
